Union County Remains a Popular Destination for People Relocating to Charlotte

A few years ago, Union County was the fifth fastest growing county in the country.  The economy has slowed the areas' boom but buyers are still interested in seeing what the Union County subdivisions have to offer.

It seems that a lot of people that have been relocated to work in Charlotte and a lot of people that are currently living in Charlotte are moving to Union County.  For a buyer, Union County has a lot to offer. The lower tax rate (about 1/2% lower), the reputation of Union County schools, and the fact that the area was overbuilt in the last few years has produced a huge buyers market and now you can buy a lot more house for the money than you can in Charlotte. 

For someone working in Uptown Charlotte, the commute is still the hindering factor.  To many, living in a more rural environment is well worth the 30-40 minute drive back to the popular subdivisions such as The Chimneys of Marvin, Quellin, Lawson, Anklin Forrest, Canterfield Creek, Marvin Creek, and Providence Downs.

Are you looking for something different to do in Charlotte during the summer months?....Check out Charlotte's Whiterwater Center.  This facility has something for every outdoor enthusiast.  I went last night to hike and to have dinner at the riverside restaurant and discovered that they have live music on Thursday nights. 

BRING YOUR DOG......If you want to come out and have a few drinks and watch the music or just walk around and watch people rock climb, kayak or whitewater raft...don't hesitate to bring your 4 legged friend.  There were probably 50 dogs hanging out lastnight while their owners enjoyed their dinner/drinks, the music, or a friendly came of corn-hole.

This is the same facility that the US Olympic Team uses to practice and qualify for the Olympic Games.

I would suggest that everybody visit the US National Whitewater Center.  They are open year round but their hours vary day by day.

Take Park Road south of the city and take a right onto Archdale just south of SouthPark.  Park South Station will be 0.7 miles on your left and you will enter the community at the bottom of this neighborhood map.

Take a look at the houses listed in  the Dilworth subdivision in Charlotte, NC?  The Dilworth area is one of Charlotte's historic districts and houses bungalows that date back to around 1900.  Most of the homes have renovated interiors with the normal granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances and vanity sinks in the bathrooms... but many of the foundations and exterior designs remain original.  I love the artsy feel that you receive as you drive down the tree-lined streets in DilworthEver wondered why so many of these trees are lined with what looks to be black tape about 5 feet from the ground?  It keeps the canker beetle from getting to the foliage where it lays its eggs and where the baby worms eat all of the leaves.  I also like the street parking.  It makes it harder for cars to drive fast through the subdivision and they help to protect the sidewalks that line the streets.

Houses in Dilworth have list prices ranging from the mid $300,000's to close to $2 million depending on what area of the subdivision you are in.  The real estate market in Charlotte, NC is very neighborhood specific and Dilworth is proof that it is also street specific
